John Tan

John has over a decade of experience advising on a wide range of real estate matters, including corporate real estate, real estate financing and private client real estate transactions.

John advises on direct real estate acquisitions, disposals, sale and leaseback, commercial leasing and indirect real estate investment transactions across the commercial, industrial and residential property sectors in Singapore. He also has experience in niche property sub-sectors such as co-living, co-working, high-tech agricultural, hospitality, manufacturing, medical, aviation, and self-storage. John’s clients include multinationals, real estate investment funds, property developers and construction companies, collective sale committees, family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals.

John also advises banks and financial institutions, corporates and high net-worth individuals, on both the lender and the borrower side, in secured real estate financing transactions including land and construction loans and other mortgage-backed facilities.

John is frequently invited to contribute his views in the media and leading legal publications. He was also a real estate practice Course Facilitator for the Singapore Institute of Legal Education Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations for around 8 years. John was recognised by the Singapore Business Review as one of the top 20 most influential lawyers under the age of 40 in 2018. He was also recently recognised as a Notable Practitioner for Real Estate in Asialaw 2024.
