With more than twenty years of history in this part of the world, the self-storage industry began to develop and establish a strong presence in emerging markets across the region within the last decade.

 

Beginning with Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, it has now put down roots in Taiwan, China, Thailand, India, the Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia and other Asian countries. The Self Storage Association Asia Annual Survey 2020 was completed with information provided by companies operating in these 8 markets, with supplementary qualitative material drawn from their operators.

 

The report was produced with help and input from professionals with frontline experience with operating self-storage facilities in countries across Asia. The aim is to monitor and chart the growth and development of the industry in markets across the region. It is our hope that our report can provide useful information to operators as well as serve as reference material to investors.
